On June 18, 2022, the Thai Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) published Notification No. 435 (in Thai), “Regarding Qualities or Standards of Containers Made from Plastic.” The new standards, which entered into force on the same day they were published, include definitions and general safety requirements for plastic food packaging. The standard allows for a three-year transition period. Food containers that meet the standards listed in Annex 2 of MOPH No 435 or that are made of virgin plastic and were in use before the standard entered into force may be used for three years from the enforcement date.
